Aiming at structuring its dialogue with the cultural sector and civil society regarding the European Agenda for Culture in a Globalized World and its three main objectives, which are the promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, the promotion of culture as catalyst for creativity and the promotion of culture as a vital element in EU external relations, the European Commission set up three culture sector platforms in June 2008 enabling culture stakeholders to provide concrete input and policy recommendations.
