International Confederation of Accordionists

The Confederation Internationale des Accordeonistes CIA is a confederation of member national accordion associations or similar groups. The Confederation seeks to coordinate, promote and encourage through the national associations, accordion activities throughout all the countries of the world.

The Confederation works to promote worldwide development of interest in the accordion, and in particular advancement of the accordion at higher educational levels. The Confederation promotes an annual International Competition ”Coupe Mondiale” in different countries. It encourages recordings, new music literature for the accordion, concert tours and appearances of Coupe Mondiale winners and other accomplished players.

The CIA was founded in Paris in 1935. It’s a global organisation consisting member organisations from 43 countries. The headquarter and secretariat is in Finland (town Ikaalinen) connected with the Finnish Accordion Association.
