First results in UNESCO's technical assistance in cultural governance programme
UNESCO runs a technical assistance programme to strengthen the governance of culture in development countries, in which recognised experts in cultural governance assist 13 development countries since 2011 to develop policies that support the emergence of dynamic cultural and creative industries.
Now UNESCO published first promising results of this project. There are completed missions in Buenos Aires, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Honduras, Malawi, Mauritius, the Seychelles and Viet Nam with results meeting national needs and priorities. And even more results are expected to come over the coming weeks.
This is the first EU-UNESCO partnership of this kind, that implements the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at national and local levels.
