Culture Action Europe:we are more campaign

On 10 May, all EU Ministers of Culture met in Brussels to formally adopt a common agreement, a so-called “partial general approach”, on the Commission’s proposal for the next EU Culture Programme Creative Europe.

The Council position highlights the “intrinsic value of arts and culture” and aims at ensuring a better balance between the economic objective and the promotion of cultural diversity within the future programme. It also underlines the need of supporting small operators and non-for profit initiatives and calls for developing qualitative indicators to evaluate the projects to be financed by the programme.

At this stage, the Council did not manage to reach an agreement on the proposed financial facility for the cultural and creative sectors.

Culture Action Europe, within the framework of the we are more – act for culture in Europe campaign, will prepare a statement on the Council position in the upcoming days so make sure you click by our news-section often!
