Introduction


Dear EMCY readers, In the first half of 2015 a lot of music competitions took place. In this present newsletter you will find their results, information about EMCY activities, concerts as well as competitions and the upcoming events this autumn. Also, EMCY has again been attributed the charitable status ('gemeinnützig') of a non-profit organization due to the change of its statute in 2014.

Epoche F November 2015 For the renowned international master course with the Ensemble Modern from 31.10. to 7.11.2015 in Hannover and with the support of the "Stiftung Niedersachsen", EMCY has selected 5 international prizewinners from member competitions (violin, viola, cello, string bass and 1 piano). We are very much looking forward at the prestigious closing concerts.

Brass quartet 'Trombonet' from Norway in Malta in July 2015 Thanks to a long collaboration between EMCY with the Victoria International Arts Festival in Malta, the prize-winner ensemble 'Trombonet' from the Norwegian Member Competition Ungdommens musikkmesterskap will participated at the Victoria International Arts Festival from 3rd to 6th July 2015.

Playing Bach feels like a jumping mountain goat! This year´s Young Hearts for Music Tour began with a multi-day workshop at the Landesmusikschule Kufstein, giving the young musicians the possibility to get to know each other and to practise the repertoire with an instructor. It took them only a few hours to find their way to communicate personally and musically and work together!

Successful EuroRadio Youth Concert Alexandra Bobeico, Chiara Enderle and Yanfan Yang gave an impressive live performance with the Romanian Radio National Orchestra during the EuroRadio Youth Concert. Young Talents on Tour The Young Talents on Tour took place from March 5 - 8, 2015 with concerts in Luxembourg and North Rhine-Westphalia. The invited artists were the quintet 'Molto Vento', Kalya Kalcheva, Jonas Stark and Lucie Krysatis.


COMPETITION NEWS & RESULTS

The European competition for strings and vibraphone solo, Luxembourg The UGDA Music School is pleased to announce that the European competition for strings and vibraphone solo will take place on November 15th, 2015 at the Conservatoire of Luxembourg. The contest is open to candidates up to 26 years.

Selection of Piano Trios for Orlando Competition Announced

Results of the 2015 "Ohrid Pearls" international competition in Ohrid, Macedonia The "Ohrid Pearls" international competition for young musicians took place in Ohrid (Macedonia) from June 15-21. Over 120 participants from 10 countries showed their skill in the woodwind and brass categories.

Results of the 10th International Competition for Young Pianists 'A Step Towards Mastery' The 10th International Competition for Young Pianists 'A Step Towards Mastery' took place from June 3 - 10, 2015. Over 50 young talents from 14 different countries presented themselves before an international jury consisting of experts from Europe, Asia, and North America.

Results of Jugend Musiziert Over 2,400 talented young musicians converged onto Hamburg from May 22 to 27, 2015 for the 52nd edition of the German national youth music competition 'Jugend musiziert'. There were over 170 well-known jury members. The EMCY was represented by its president, Paul Scholer.

Results of the Österreichische Jugendmusikwettbewerbe Prima la Musica The national finals of the national Austrian music competition prima la musica took place in Eisenstadt from May 21-27. A total of 793 regional prize winners from all over Austria and South Tyrol showed their skill in 19 different rating categories. There were a total of 90 jury members.

Results of EMCY Slovakia 'Nitrianska lutna' The 15th edition of the national music competition 'Nitrianska lutna' was held on May 14, 2015 at the Jozef Rosinský school of art and music.

Results of the 40th Edition, Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb Finale 2015 Over 300 young musicians took part in the final of the Swiss Youth Music Competition that took place between May 7th and 10th at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano.

Results of EMCY Slovakia 'Talents for Europe': 19th International competition of Bohdan Warchal in playing the bow-stringed instruments From April 30 - May 3, the 19th edition of the music competition dedicated to Bohdan Warchal, an important Slovak musician and pedagogue, took place in Dolny Kubin. It was his 85th birthday this year.

Results of EMCY Slovakia 'Ján Cikker Children's Music festival' The 23rd edition of the Ján Cikker Children's Music festival, under the auspices of EMCY Slovakia, took place from April 24-26, 2015 at the Jan Cikker Primary Art School in Banska Bzstrica (Slovakia). There were 67 young musicians that took part in the competition for woodwind and brass instruments.

Results of the Peter Toperczer International Piano Competition Košice The 14th edition of Peter Toperczer International Piano Competition Košice, which took place from April 23-26, closed with the Concert of Winners and awards ceremony at the Palace of Art.

Results of the 83rd Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes The 83rd round of the 'Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes' for brass, woodwinds and percussion took place from April 23 - 26, 2015 in Bilbao (Spain).

Results EMCY Slovakia 'Iuventus canti' Imrich Godin´s vocal competition The 17th Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition 'Iuventus Canti' took place from April 20-24, 2015 in Vráble (Slovakia).

Results of the Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists The 12th Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists successfully finished with the prize winners concert on Sunday April 12. 70 young musical talents from 19 countries participated in the competition, the second highest number of participants since the inception of the competition.

Results of the San Sebástian City International Piano Competition Over 100 young musicians took part in the City of San Sebastian International Piano Competition, which took place between March 21 and 22 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. The competitors came from all over Europe including Germany, Lithuania, Macedonia, Portugal, Russia and Spain. Link EMCY webpage
