ENCATC - Call for Abstracts

20th ENCATC ANNUAL CONFERENCE Goldsmiths, University of London, United Kingdom 12-14 September 2012 3rd Annual ENCATC Research Session

You are invited to submit abstracts for the 3rd ENCATC Research Session that will be organised during the 20th ENCATC Annual Conference “Networked Culture” in London next 12-14 September 2012. If selected, paper presentations are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, September 12th. Proposals from any relevant discipline will be considered, provided that they make an original academic contribution to the study of cultural management.

I. Topics of interest

Papers are welcome on all cultural management areas including:

·Creative Entrepreneurship and Education in Cultural Life

·Interpretation/Mediation applied to Heritage Sites

·Cultural Observatories and Cultural Information and Knowledge

·Audience Policies in Europe

·Europe International

·Urban Management and Cultural Policy of the City

·Arts and Health

· Theater and Performing Arts Management
Research in the following subject areas are particularly welcome:

·Methodologies for education and training in the field of cultural management and cultural policy

·Influences of the local institutional context on the management models for cultural organizations and heritage (e.g. funding mechanisms; regulatory systems; top-down vs. bottom-up approach; conservation vs. valorization orientation, etc.)


All those wishing to present a paper at the Annual Conference’s Research Session must submit an abstract of 500-1000 words by Friday, 8 June 2012. All abstracts must include a title, author(s) (names, affiliations, e-mails of all authors) and 3-5 key words.


The abstract should provide information on:

·         the theme of the paper

·         the theory used

·         the research method

·         a summary of main or expected conclusions

·         main references

Abstracts can only be submitted in English, French, Spanish and Italian. However, oral presentations of accepted papers must be given in English.

Authors are notified of their status. Template for the final paper to be presented in London is made available on ENCATC’s website.

Phase III.

Final papers are due

Thursday, 6 September 2012
