Freemuse News: 50 days to 3 March 2011 - Support the Music Freedom Day!

Music Freedom Day (MFD) is the annual global celebration of freedom of musical expression.

MFD is the day we all try to show our support for those musicians, who are persecuted, censured, banned....

MFD is the day that artists, media, dj's and cultural organisers try to tell other people that music is a human right.

It is so easy to join.

- As a musician or a DJ you can mention the day between two songs during a regular concert or event

- As a journalist you could write a story about one of the many cases ob music censorship

- As an event organiser you could organise a discussion of freedom of musical expression

Some of you are already familiar with MFD and have taken part in previous years.

If you are not familiar with the event please visit freemuse.org/sw37033.asp for more information

Our website features many video interviews with musicians suffering censorship and persecution freemuse.org/sw2348.asp

This year we've so far got positive responses from colleagues and partners in a.o. Mumbai, Amman, Cairo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Ålborg and New York, who plan to celebrate Music Freedom Day 2011. In Birmingham a radio station run by young people have in fact planned to celebrate MFD with 24 hours continuous broadcasting focusing on freedom of musical expression.

Drop us a note if you plan any kind of involvement or activity and do not hesitate to forward this mail to your colleagues.
