IFCM News 2012

Choral friends – are you up to a design challenge?

The IFCM is undergoing a major facelift and are searching for a fresh, new and innovative logo that will capture the essence of the new image for the world’s only not-for-profit international choral umbrella organization – the International Federation for Choral Music.

IFCM Logo Competition

If you have any ideas why not sketch them down and send them in?
All submissions will be acknowledged and reviewed.

OCTOBER 15, 2012

If a suitable logo is selected, the creator will receive a 12 month free IFCM membership, an acknowledgement in the ICB and on the IFCM website, however the creators of all submissions must be prepared to donate the copyright to the IFCM in perpetuity without fee or further favor.

Some information to help get the creative ideas flowing….

  • FULL NAME: International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM)
  • The IFCM is the only non-profit international umbrella organization for choral music, which through the membership of the organisations under its umbrella, is far in excess of 50 million people.
  • The IFCM turned 30 in 2012.
  • Current organizational slogan: “IFCM - Connecting our Choral World”

Through the work of a volunteer team of leading choral professionals, the IFCM:

  • Aims to give every citizen of the world the opportunity to access choral music as an Art form
  • Helps preserve choral music and cultural diversity
  • Fosters development in choral music world-wide
  • Acts as a world-wide reference organization and advocate for choral music and its development
  • Strengthens cooperation between national and international organizations and individuals interested in all aspects of choral music.
  • Encourages the formation of choral organizations in countries and regions where none exist.
  • Develops and promotes international exchange programs for choirs, conductors, composers, and students of choral music.
  • Creates, promotes, coordinates, and nurtures choral festivals, seminars, competitions, and meetings organized by its members.
  • Facilitates the creation and dissemination of choral repertoire, research, recordings, and other appropriate materials.

What does the logo need to reflect? Through an innovative and intelligent design, the new logo should capture the fresh, progressive and visionary movement that the new IFCM represents, and reflect the many facets of the IFCM’s important international projects, programs and on-going mission.

What should the new logo project: Professionalism – Internationalism – Artistry – Diversity - Global Community - Success  - Achievement - Choral singing - Music making at all levels – Energy – Vibrancy - Participation and inclusion - Intelligence - - Creativity – Innovation

What must it be:

  • Timeless in style, yet contemporary
  • Representative of all styles of choral music, cultures and ages
  • Eye catching / immediately recognizable
  • Adaptable to lots of different settings and purposes

Suggestions as to what it might not contain:

  • Musical symbols
  • Clichéd images of singing – treble clefs, mouths etc.

PLEASE SEND YOUR IDEAS in PDF or jpeg form, along with your contact details, by October 15, 2012 to:stephen_leek@hotmail.com
