JM Jazz World Orchestra 2017

Meet the musicians!

The global open audition for the 2017 JM Jazz World Orchestra saw an amazing array of high-quality applications from all around the world. After facing some hard choices we are excited to announce the 2017 JM Jazz World Orchestra lineup!

Thanks to over 100 high caliber applications received, this year's JM Jazz World Orchestra can continue it's mission: bringing together the world’s best young jazz talents with an international repertoire as diverse as its members.

18 musicians, representing 10 different countries and 5 continents, will tour Europe in July under the direction of the California-raised Costa Rican trombonist Luis Bonilla. Bonilla returns for his third season as Artistic Director of the JMJWO, which continues to thrive under his mentorship.

We would like to thank all applicants for an extremely impressive year of auditions. The standard and quantity of auditions was incredible and made the selection process extremely hard. We encourage all applicants to stay updated with all JM Jazz World activities, including our summer jazz camps.

Officially formed in 2012, the JM Jazz World Orchestra aims at achieving the highest artistic standards and scope possible, presenting a unique experience in terms of personal relations building, intercultural learning and exchange.

The JMJWO tour begins with a high-intensity, four-day session of rehearsals and workshops where band members get to know one another and the artistic director through a process of artistic and personal discovery. The 2017 JMJWO session will be hosted by JM Croatia at the idyllic JMI World Meeting Centre in Grožnjan, Croatia, from the 1st to the 5th of July, 2017.

After fusing creativity and cultures in the session, the orchestra sets off on tour, performing at various European jazz festivals and venues, before returning to Grožnjan on the 13th of July.
