WOMEN’S IMPACT ON AUSTRIAN MUSIC

Here is a small overview that should illustrate something that a lot of people know, but many don’t want to admit. That without the incredibly creative works, self-confident performances and success of female musicians, artists, and composers, the Austrian music scene would not be anywhere near as diverse or of such high quality as it is right now. The artists listed in the following article have already been featured many times and this list is in no way meant to be complete. JAZZAHEAD! 2017 WITH AUSTRIAN PARTICIPATION 
 
In April the city of Bremen will once again become an important center of the international jazz scene. The 12th edition of the JAZZAHEAD! showcase festival will once again offer guests from around the planet a chance to enjoy a very diverse musical program. Between the 27th and 30th of April over 40 concerts will take place. This year Austria will be represented by the David Helbock Trio and the saxophonist Karolina Strassmayr with her quartet KLARO!. READ MORE

 

THE GREAT ESCAPE 2017: AUSTRIAN ARTISTS & DELEGATE DISCOUNTS 

The Great Escape (TGE) is a festival that showcases emerging artists from all over the world. Over 450 up and coming bands play in 35 Brighton venues, which makes TGE the first place to discover new favorite bands and see them in an intimate setting before they go on to headline major festival stages. Among the the first 50 artists that will join the 2017 line up are Austro-American songwriter James Hersey, Rag’n’Bone Man, The Age Of L.U.N.A, Ray BLK, Cabbage, Goat Girl, Yonaka, Gurr, Indigo Husk, Sophie Hunger and many more. In the last years, Austrian bands such as Leyya, Salute, Mieux, Bulbul, Mile Me Deaf and more played successful showcases in Brighton. READ MORE

 

ZSÓFIA BOROS – “LOCAL OBJECTS” 

It was already clear from her debut album “En otra parte” (2013) that Zsófia Boros is a true master of the acoustic guitar. The delicate, sophisticated, and powerful way in which the Hungarian born and Vienna based musician breathed life in to her melodies turning them into eventful, illustrative and incredibly atmospheric sound stories, was proof of an immense talent.
