Musicians at the European Forum on Music 2025

Mohamed Amine El Korchi

Mohamed Amine El Korchi began his international musical training on the qanun at Muziekpublique. He studied with some of the greatest teachers of Arab and Turkish music, including the Iraqi master Souhad Najem. In 2021, he graduated with distinction from the Conservatory of Fez under the direction of Mohamed Briouel, and in 2023, he received the honorary award with the jury’s congratulations from the Conservatory of Rabat. He has already performed internationally with musicians such as Tristan Driessens and Robbe Kieckens, and currently plays in the Trio El Korchi with his sister, Nawal, and renowned percussionist Ahmed Khaili.

The qanun is one of the most essential musical instruments in the Arab world. It can be considered the Eastern equivalent of the piano. It plays a crucial role in traditional Arab music and is often used both solo and in ensembles.
