EMC Newsletter 02/2014 European Music Council
Editorial

Dear Reader,

Now that the European elections are over, the new leaders of the political groups of the European Parliament appointed, and Jean-Claude Juncker formally elected as new President of the European Commission, the new political direction of the European Union is finally taking shape. A new team of 28 Commissioners will be voted on in October 2014, and we wait with particular interest to see who the Commissioner for Education and Culture will be, and what his/her portfolio will include.

With the summer now well under way, we would like to take this quieter moment in the cultural sector's busy schedule to reflect on activities of the previous months, and bring your attention to the exciting events across Europe in the ones to come. As always, we also provide you with the recent cultural policy developments on the European and international levels.

We wish you all a wonderful summer and hope you enjoy reading our newsletter.
