Round Table for Music Organisations

Brussels, 3 February 2026, 10-13 CET, (huisvandeMens Brusssels, Quai des Péniches 1)

The European Music Council has planned a Round Table for EMC members to explore joint policy steps and measures. During the Round Table we would like to discuss current general culture policy topics e.g., the place of music in the Culture Compass for Europe and advocacy strategies for a strong culture (music) budget in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028-2034. There will be room for additional discussion points in the agenda that participants think are important to address.

Please note that this is an event exclusively for EMC members.

During this round table, we will focus on current policy developments:

  1. the proposed Multiannual Financial Framwork of the EU (and its funding programme for culture/music)
  2. the role of music within the Culture Compass and its flagship initiatives

During the Round Table we will exchange the best arguments and highlight topics that we can use in our advocacy work for a bold budget for music and culture at EU level (Agora EU and other funding programmes).

With regards to the Culture Compass, we would like to focus on how music actually contributes to the topics raised in the Compass highlighting that music is already greatly implementing the goals of the Compass in an exemplary way. The Culture Compass introduced 20 flagship actions that the EU starts to implement via diverse methods. As the implementation of the flagship initiatives is the place where the Compass is put into concrete policy/political work, we will discuss how and in what way music needs to be reflected in those flagships that are particularly relevant for music.
